'Budhii hogi .. tu!'

Had to take mom to a dubbing studio today. To dub a patch for the TVC she shot for recently in Manali.

A printout of her lines, we sat in the studio as she spoke out the lines in multiple different ways. A kind of rehearsal before she took the mike in the ‘recording’ part of the studio in the other room.

बोलते बोलते ..somewhere her voice cracked a little. Her shoulders slumped as she attempted again. She was beginning to look a tad woeful, when I shook my head a little sagely, and said -

‘Koi baat nahin ..बूढ़े लोगों ke saath ho jaata hai aisa kabhi kabhi ..’

Suddenly sitting up straight, she sent me a कड़क look with a sharp -

‘बूढ़ी hogi tu ..!’

And then, turning towards the recording engineer -

‘Shuru karo, beta ..मैं tayyar hoon.’

..she marched to the recording room. Minus her walking stick too.

Was a cracker of a dubbing. Just saying.
